These are pics of art lessons from my classroom in 2011-12. I teach grades k-4 and use a modified Teaching for Artistic Behavior format. This means that sometimes the lesson is semi-directed while other times the student have a broad boundary for interpretation. I find that students are most engaged when they find personal meaning in their artwork. This results in them retaining skills more readily, and the development of beginning to think, act, and work as authentic studio artists.
